Beverly Hills and Los Angeles luxury car shoppers will soon have some great new options. According to reporting by Automotive News, the Lexus brand has revealed plans for three future vehicles that they feel will plug gaps in their existing lineup. Those vehicles — two that are new Lexus SUVs — may be at the Keyes Lexus showroom as soon as calendar year 2018. In its own way, each is new yet familiar to us.

Lexus UX: The Lexus UX was first shown at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. The concept vehicle was jaw-droppingly beautiful, a mix of organic shapes and innovative technology like free-floating seats meant to cradle the driver and passengers. While the production vehicle is likely to stray from the concept in some key respects (executives indicate it will be toned down somewhat from the concept), it should still be striking. Just as important, the vehicle — which would slot in below the Lexus NX as a replacement for the Lexus CT — would make the company competitive in the growing subcompact luxury SUV segment.

Lexus RX L: We haven’t seen the Lexus RX L yet, but it should get a public debut at one of the auto shows later this year. As the name suggests, this luxury SUV would be derived from the current Lexus RX. The difference is that it would have a longer wheelbase and a seven-seat layout. The models expected are an RX 350L and RX 450hL hybrid.

Both new series of Lexus SUVs are expected to arrive in showrooms some time in 2018. Only time will tell if these new vehicles will help Lexus Motor Corporation vault from second place by sales volume to overtake their nearest German rival. However, this certainly feels like a step in the right direction, especially since this year will see the debut of the Lexus LC and the newest generation of the flagship Lexus LS sedan.
