The 2016 Paris Auto Show runs from the first to the 16th of October. Lexus is early to the party this year, choosing to preview the Lexus UX concept crossover in advance. Although details are still sparse and it will be a little while before Glendale, CA and Los Angeles, CA drivers will see this new Lexus SUV at the Keyes Lexus showroom, what little we’ve seen is still cause for excitement.

There’s only been one photo released of the vehicle so far, a 3/4 rear shot that nonetheless gives a good idea of what the compact crossover will look like. In short, this is the Lexus L-Finesse design language turned up to 11. The crossover is similar in size to the current Lexus NX 200h; rumor has it that the Lexus UX is slated to be that vehicle’s replacement. Powertrain specifications and specifics about in-vehicle technology range from nonexistent to sketchy, though we expect that Lexus will provide more details at the official unveiling in Paris.

Besides the vehicle’s ample ground clearance and beefy tires — which suggest a bit of off-roading ability — and its striking appearance, there are a few things we know about the Lexus UX. What’s been released so far has less to do with specifications than with philosophy. The crossover will be targeted at millennials, and it will boast an even greater level of connectivity than anything currently in the Lexus lineup. Indeed, we can’t help but wonder if Lexus UX is a subtle nod to another UX (user experience), and a way to underscore that this vehicle sees the vehicle harmonizing driving, apps, and other aspects of a driver’s day-to-day into a unified luxury experience.

We aren’t sure yet when the Lexus UX will be available for the Glendale and Los Angeles area customers of Keyes Lexus. We would also hazard a guess based on the company’s past concept cars that the UX won’t make it to our showroom in quite the same form as it’s shown in Paris. Usually, Lexus errs on the side of the conservative. However, while we’re waiting for more details — which we’ll report as they’re available — you still have some great options at our showroom at 5905 Van Nuys Blvd in Van Nuys, CA.
