The Lexus RX-L is on its way out of Lexus dealerships, but its replacement is already waiting in the wings. A new Lexus SUV with a larger third row, called the Lexus TX, gives you all the advantages of a three-row model while keeping its size city-friendly. Here’s a sneak peek for when it starts to hit our dealership later this year.

Trim Levels and Powertrain Options

Many specifications are still under wraps, but we do have some hints of what’s to come. We expect this SUV to be available in three trims, and to offer three powertrain variants. A gasoline version will likely feature a six-cylinder engine, and will be accompanied by hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions.

A Strong but Lightweight Platform

Unlike some three-row SUVs that are based on truck bodies (including the Lexus GX), the Lexus TX features unibody construction. The new platform is every bit as strong, but it’s a lot lighter. This, in turn, will make it slightly sportier and give it a softer ride, while preserving fuel economy even in the petrol-only powertrain.

Ample Luxury and Technology

Since this is, after all, a three-row SUV, cabin space should be ample, and cargo space should likewise be generous. We expect a large touchscreen for the Enform® infotainment system, full support for Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, and of course, a full complement of Lexus Safety System+® driver-assist features alongside the usual luxury amenities one expects from a vehicle wearing the Lexus badge.
